What makes roughening a concrete floor or grid so important?
Over time, both slatted and flat floors in our livestock houses become too slippery. This does not happen suddenly, but stealthily and therefore is not immediately noticed. The cows walk with shorter strides and anticipate not to fall. Jumping behavior and other oestrus symptoms decrease. At the same time, the risk of claw injuries increases due to the changed pressure distribution on the claws and the risk of accidents for humans and animals increases. The animals walk less frequently, feed intake decreases and the stress level for the animal increases. Very often we hear from customers when we have finished the work, "we should have done this much earlier."

Dense floors
Here we usually apply a wide and deep profile. The width of the slot is exactly 1/3 of the claw width. Diamond cutting creates a sharp tight edge with a right angle, which optimizes grip. The advantages of this are:
- Excellent claw health, due to a flat position of the claw;
- Great claw stability;
- Always make sure the claws are in contact with at least one groove;
- Hardly any chance of slipping;
- Greater stride lengths, more natural behavior and better draft expression;
- Increased activity and feed intake;
- Less stress and accidents;
- Longer life of your precious cows;
- In short, more returns!!!
American research has shown that this is the best profile you can apply.
Grid floors
The slatted floors are roughened by us using diamond saws with a fine profile. This gives the cows optimum grip, increasing stride lengths and making movement more natural. The positive effects are reflected in more feed intake, more activity, more heat detection and fewer accidents. In short, more efficiency.
Chain slots
In addition to roughing, Grip4Cows also specializes in chain slitting. This has a very positive effect on hoof health vs. when the chain is on the floor.
Low-emission sheds
Grip4Cows works with companies that specialize in low-emission floors or emission-reducing barn systems. The floor is cut with a slope so that urine is discharged at an accelerated rate.
